(This is a temporary page to help save people from falling victim to fraud.)
I’ve had a lot of emails from people telling me that they’ve seen an advert on Facebook saying Albatross is hiring.
This is a scam.
The people running the ad and interviewing you are criminals.
Please report the advert if you see it. To do that, click next to the advert, then click ‘report ad’ and follow the instructions.
Please don’t respond to it. Please don’t give anyone any information about yourself. (I’ve heard that they ask you for a lot of personal details.)
It looks like there’s nothing I can do about this. I can’t see a way for me to report the scam on Facebook, because I’ve never seen the advert. I’m getting advice about how to respond.
It’s really sad that criminals prey on people who need jobs. And it is terrible that Facebook seems to allow this and seems to give me no way to stop my website being used.
So please just report the ad as fraud and then ignore it.
Albatross is an imprint I created just to self-publish my Jonathon Fairfax books. They’re doing very well, but I’m certainly not going to be recruiting any staff. If I did, I wouldn’t do it on Facebook. Someone just told me they’d been interviewed for a job as a ‘customer service representative’. I don’t have customers; I have readers. And I service them myself. By writing books.
So, please don’t fall for this scam.
Thanks,
Chris
