About us

Albatross Publishing was set up in May 2012, in Hackney, East London, by Christopher Shevlin.

This is me. I wanted an imprint for my book, so I invented one. I have always loved The Rime of The Ancient Mariner, and Monty Python’s Albatross sketch. Recently, a friend told me that the Penguin brand was an hommage to a Twenties German publisher called Albatross, and then another friend told me about Baudelaire’s poem.

With one thing and another, I’ve become quite attached to it over the last month. If my book doesn’t completely fail, I may publish some books by other people under the same imprint. Let’s see.

This is going succeed. Witness the reviews. Instead of you publishing others, a major may start publishing you. Then you’ll learn what stress really is😂
